Asst.Grade appointment; Govt. to probe


Thiruvananthapuram: The government on 3rd Tuesday 2009 has ordered to form a three-member committee to probe the irregularities alleged in the appointment of candidates for assistant grade by Kerala University.

The committee would include Rtd. District judge M Sukumaran, Higher Education secretary Kuruvila John and Intelligence I.G. Padmakumar. There had been instructions to include an IT expert into the committee. He will be selected by the committee leader.
Four months back the High Court had directed government to form high-level committee based on the recommendations of Upa Lok Ayukta to cancel the rank list and appointments for assistant grade-2. Upa Lok Ayukta had also recommended legal action against former vice chancellor M. K. Ramachandran Nair, pro-vice chancellor V. Jayaprakas and syndicate members B.S. Rajeev, A.A. Rasheed, M.P. Russel and K.A. Andrew for “displaying favoritism, nepotism and political patronage in the examinations and appointments”
