Education Minister M.A. Baby who announced the results here on Monday said this year’s pass percentage was marginally less than last year’s 91.92 per cent. Among the winners, 5,182 students have got A+ grade for all subjects and 17,515 candidates got A grade. While 41,011 candidates got B+ grade, 79,898 got B grade, 1,44,674 got C+ grade and 2,56,981 secured C grade. The pass percentage has stabilised at 90 per cent since 2008, he said.
Pala education district registered the highest pass percentage of 97.79 per cent and Palakkad education district, the lowest of 81.08 per cent. Thrissur revenue district has the highest number of students who got A+ grade, 656, and Kannur education district has 315 students who secured A+ grade in all subjects. Of the 42,787 Scheduled Caste students who appeared for the examinations, 34,450 qualified for higher education and 79 students got A+ grade. As many as 5,367 Scheduled Tribe students sat for the examinations and 4,204 became eligible for higher education. Only six students got A+ grade. There were 2,90,905 candidates in the OBC category. Among them 2,63,854 qualified for higher education.
Five hundred and sixty-eight schools recorded 100 per cent pass. This included 143 government, 197 aided and 228 unaided schools. While 88 government schools, 35 aided and 93 unaided schools had less than 50 students, the strength of SSLC candidates in 55 government, 162 aided and 135 unaided schools were above 50 students.
While Malappuram revenue district had the highest number of candidates of 71,113, Tirur education district won the second place with 35,055.
Wayanad revenue district had the lowest number of candidates of 10,478 and Kuttanad education district 2,501 students.
St. Mary’s HSS, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram, has the distinction of being the examination centre where the highest number of students, 1,344, sat for the examination, followed by P.P.T.Y.M. HSS, Chelur, Malappuram, with 990 students and Panakkad Pookoya Thangal HSS, Kottukara with 942 students. The number of students who sat for the examinations was less than 10 in 10 schools.
The Save a Year examinations will be held in selected centres in all districts from May 17 to 21 and the results will be announced in the first week of June. The results were announced within a record time of
36 days after completing the examinations. In 2007 the results were published on May 20, May 13 in 2008 and May 8 in 2009. The SSLC cards with hologram and digitised photos of the candidates will reach the examination centres before May 20.
Grace marks
The grace marks for students who participated in youth festivals, Arabic literary festivals, Sanskrit festivals, work experience fairs, science and mathematics fairs, national and State sports meets, Scouts and Guides (Rajya Puraskar, Badge and Rashtrapathi Badge), Red Cross and NCC will be recorded in the SSLC certificate. Grace marks have been awarded to 13,243 students this year.
The applications for scrutiny and revaluation of answer books in prescribed forms should be submitted through the school authorities to the Examinations Commissioner before May 15. The application covers should be super-scribed for revaluation or scrutiny.
Fees
The fees for revaluation for a paper is Rs. 400 and scrutiny Rs. 50. It should be drawn as a demand draft in favour of the examinations commissioner. Candidates should write their register number behind the draft. Self-addressed envelopes should be attached with the applications for communication with the candidates. Revaluation of answer-books will be completed by June 20 and the head masters will be intimated of results, irrespective of the changes in grades.
