Madani during the press meet
Thiruvananthapuram, Saturday March 28,2009: PDP leader Abdul Nasar Madani on Saturday claimed that 'terrorist link' allegation against him was a propaganda by the Mislim League and Congress.
This is because of support of PDP party is extending to CPI-M-led-LDF in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
"IUML had always tried to create divisions in society and exploited the Muslim community for political gains" He said in a press meet at Kesari hall. Muslim League was behind all the communal clashes which had occurred in the State.League leaders had been exploiting the backwardness of the Muslim community and religious faith for political gains.
He reiterated that he would quit public life if the charge that he was involved in any extremist or communal act was proved. "There was no truth in reports that I or my wife Sufiya Maudani was in touch with extremists" he said.
Denying an allegation that he had converted one Mani alias Yusuf while he was in jail in connection with the Coimbatore blasts case, he said Mani had already embraced Islam before he met him in prison”. Madani said that Yusaf is an illiterate and does not know Malayalam. Yusaf also said he had not said anything against Madani.
He said the support extended to LDF in the polls was to help forces seeking to bring the Third Front to power.
Madani also said mere newspaper reports could not be considered as evidence to grill him.
He also produced Mani alias Yousuf who is said to have undergone training along with the Malayalee youths who were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Kashmir and Noushad, allegedly involved in the Kozhikode bus burning case
