LDF meeting: Re-entry for P J Joseph, Reduction in selffinance college fee


Thiruvananthapuram:The way have been cleared for Kerala Congress (J) chairman P J Joseph’s return to the Cabinet with the State committee of the LDF on 8th Saturday deciding to permit the KC(J) to change its representatives in the State Cabinet. Mr. Joseph would be sworn in Minister on August 17 the day of Chingam 1st. The current PWD minister MonsJoseph will resign soon
The LDF panel also decided to recommend to the government reduction in the enhanced fees in government-run self-financing professional colleges.
LDF convener Vaikam Viswan after the meet told reporters that the committee had deferred a decision on providing places to the pro-DevGowda faction of the Janata Dal (Secular) and lone Congress (S) nominee Ramachandran Kadannappalli in the State Cabinet to August 14.
The LDF committee had also discussed at length the reasons for the major setback suffered by the LDF in the Lok Sabha elections and had arrived at the conclusion. Committee also trace the reasons of failureincluding ganging up of various domestic and foreign forces, people’s rejection of the proposal for a third alternative at the national level coupled with their desire for a stable secular government at the Center, offensive by various communal forces and disunity within the LDF had all contributed to the alliance’s defeat. The committee also decided to asking the Centre to release 50,000 tonnes of rice at APL price for distribution through the PDS during Onam and also to withdraw the proposed Food Security Bill.
