Start, Theatre, Action..IFFK Starts on December 9th

Here comes the 16th edition of International Film Festival of Kerala, conducted by Cultural ministry and Kerala Chalachithra Academy together. This year also IFFK comes with great packages of movies, retro, seminars, forums, discussions, exhibitions etc.. and will commences on December 9th till 16th.
2011’s Highlights
> Films would be screened in 11 theatres across Trivandrum Including Kairali, Sree, Kalabhavan, New, Dhanya, Remya..
> Academy also decides to hire 2K projectors for the better quality of films to be screened.
> Delegate passes are priced at Rs 400 and student passes at Rs.200, Online registration for both public and media is available through www.iffk.in
> Oscar winner for best direction , Bruce Beresford will be the Chairman of this year’s Jury for competition sections. This Australian director’s first film made in the US, Tender Mercies, earned him his only Academy Award nomination for Best Director in 1982. He also directed Driving Miss Daisy which won the Academy award for best film in 1990.
> The competition section includes 14 films from Asia, Latin America and Africa. The committee headed by Dr. Rajendrababu has selected  these films from around 700 entries.
> Malayalam Cinema Today section Includes 7 movies and also the Indian Cinema section.
> Movies from the lands of democratic revolutions including Libya, Tunisia will also be highlighted in the festival.  There is also the Movies from Philippines and Cannes.
> 7 Movies exclusively for football lovers
> This years’ retro includes famous Japanese director Nagisa Oshima’s and Greek director Theodoros Angelopoulos’ movies
> Turkish director semih Kaplanoglu's movies wil also be a highlight of this year. The first film he directed, Herkes Kendi EvindeAway From Home) won many awards participating at international film festivals. Kaplanoğlu's second feature film Meleğin Düşüşü (Angel's Fall) premiered at the 2006 Berlin International Film Festival and found wide interest by international film critics and audience. His film Yumurta (Egg) brought many international awards for best film, best director, best screenplay. Kaplanoğlu's film Süt (Milk) was released in Germany in January 2010, which with Yumurta (Egg) and the film Bal (Honey) produced in 2010, forms a trilogy called Yusuf Üçlemesi (Yusuf's Trilogy), named after the main character Yusuf of the films.
